Nobuo Fujita was the sole enemy pilot to bomb the continental US, releasing incendiary bombs near Mount Emily to start forest fires in September 1942. Today, you can walk the Bombsite Interpretive Trail (Trail #1118) through the woodland to the bombing site, Fujita's memorial redwood, and a better understanding of this unique event in history. Drive County Road 808 and FS Road 1205, then Spur Road 260, to reach the path. The trailhead is past the crossroads. The path is rough and dirt, therefore four-wheel drive is recommended.
